WORCESTER THREE CHOIRS FESTIVAL
FROM THE MERCURE QUEEN'S HOTEL, CHELTENHAM
03 - 05 AUGUST 2008 (2 nights)

Join us at the Internationally renowned Three Choirs Festival being hosted this year by Worcester Cathedral. We have obtained the much sought after tickets for two great choral concerts in the Cathedral and an afternoon concert by the King's Singers in Pershore Abbey. The tour is based from the centrally located Regency style Mercure Queen's Hotel in the elegant spa town of Cheltenham.

Sunday 03 August Arrive and check into the Queen's hotel early afternoon. A welcome drink followed by early dinner and prompt departure for Worcester Cathedral. The choral concert this evening includes Handel's Zadok the Priest and Chandos Anthem, Garth's - Cello Concert No 2 and Purcell's - Hail Bright Cecilia performed by the Philharmonia, one of Europe's finest orchestras and Festival Chorus. Soloists: Lorna Anderson, James Bowman, Charles Humphries. Return to the hotel where light refreshments and coffee will be available.

Monday 04 August Morning at leisure. You may like to join your guide to walk to Cheltenham's Art Gallery and Museum or just enjoy the unique architecture of this Regency town. An early buffet lunch will be served before departing by coach for Pershore Abbey.

This architectural gem of a church will be host to the King's Singers who have been delighting audiences around the world for over thirty years with their charm, wit and incomparable musicianship. From mediaeval to renaissance, romantic to contemporary, folk and pop, their repertoire is all encompassing. After the concert you will then continue to Worcester where there will a chance to explore the town or use the Festival Club on College Green in order to relax and purchase refreshments or light supper before tonight's performance.

Tonight's concert will again take place in the Cathedral with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Festival chorus. The programme includes Tchaikovsky's - Romeo and Juliet, Ferguson's - Amore Langueo, Elgar's - Pomp and Circumstance March 6 and Andrew Gant's "A British Symphony" - a world premiere for this work. Soloist - James Gilchrist. After the concert the coach returns you to the hotel where light refreshments and coffee will be available.

Tuesday 05 August Check out of the hotel for departure after a leisurely breakfast.
