THE VENICE SIMPLON ORIENT- EXPRESS
A CORNWALL GARDEN WEEKEND - TRAVEL FROM LONDON
LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN AND THE EDEN PROJECT
STAY AT THE GREENBANK HOTEL FALMOUTH
11 - 13 APRIL 2008 (2 nights)

Travel on the Pullman carriages of the famous Venice Simplon Orient-Express to Cornwall to discover the romantic Lost Gardens of Heligan and visit the legendary Eden Project while staying at the historic Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth.

You will depart from London's Victoria Station on Friday 11 April 09.45 hrs (to be confirmed) on this most stately train. On board you will enjoy a luxurious journey from London to Truro. Brunch with Bellini will be served on departure and during the journey you will be served a three course lunch with champagne, wine and coffee before arriving in Cornwall. You will then be taken by executive coach to The Greenbank Hotel, an 18th century listed building situated on a waterfront position overlooking Falmouth Harbour. On Friday night there will be a welcome reception and dinner in the hotel.

Saturday morning you will depart by coach with a local guide to visit the Eden Project. This inspiring achievement masterminded by Tim Smit continues to evolve and develop as a stunning vision and vast global garden. Two giant biomes cover an area equivalent to 12 football pitches and the largest, the humid tropics biome, rises 180 feet and houses trees and plants from the Amazon basin, Africa and Malaysia including rubber, coconuts and rice and all contained in what was a discussed china clay mine. This is followed by a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the neglected and forgotten gardens of the Tremayne family, now restored to their former glory. Heligan is an oasis of natural beauty with its wild and romantic atmosphere with the walled northern gardens, the jungle ravine with subtropical plants collected from all other the world by the Victorian planthunters and the Lost Valley.

There are refreshment facilities at both the Eden Project and Heligan where you may purchase lunch.

Back to your hotel for dinner for dinner and you may wish in the early evening to explore the town of Falmouth which has played such an important part in Britain's maritime history. The following morning once again you board the Orient Express for the leisurely journey back to London enjoying a five-course lunch with champagne and wine before arriving back at Victoria Station about 2000 hrs (tbc).
