tour is based in
the great heritage
city of Chester
from the centrally
located 4* Macdonald
New Blossoms Hotel
and includes a visit
to the very popular
horticultural show
at Tatton Park with
all the very best
that the gardening
world can offer
in a delightfully
relaxed and informal
park setting. Visits
to two phenomenal
gardens - the inspirational
garden at Arley
Hall with its famous
double herbaceous
borders and a private
visit to a magnificent
garden where we
are very fortunate
to have the opportunity
to visit. Finally,
a boat cruise through
the historic city
of Chester and rolling
Cheshire countryside,
with enough time
to return and enjoy
the city at your
leisure.
Tuesday 22 July:
Check into the hotel
before a welcome
drink and dinner.
Wednesday 23
July: Coach
departs for visit
to Arley Hall. These
gardens are unique
and the superb herbaceous
borders date back
to 1846 probably
the earliest of
their kind in England
but are only part
of this extraordinary
garden. Avenues
of 33 foot high
holm oaks, walled
gardens, mixed borders
beautifully maintained
for colour throughout
the year, a classical
pavilion and an
extensive woodland
garden recently
created by the present
Viscount Ashbrook.
On arrival an introduction
will be given by
the Head Gardener
and there will be
time during your
visit to find refreshments
in the restaurant
or purchase some
of the unusual plants
in the nursery.
The day continues
with the a private
visit to the garden
- details of which
can be supplied
when booking. Return
to the hotel for
dinner.
Thursday 24 July:
Depart early for
the show at Tattoo
Park. Ideas, inspiration
and plants! Gardeners
have grown to love
this flower show
for its relaxed
ambience, original
back-to-back small
gardens, exciting
show gardens and
wonderful floral
marquees. Arriving
early to get ahead
of the traffic and
to allow you plenty
of time to enjoy
the show. Also if
you wish you can
independently visit
the House and gardens
looked after by
the National Trust.
A shuttle bus runs
to and from the
coach park and there
is a plant crche
should you succumb
to temptation during
the day! Return
to the hotel late
afternoon - dinner
in the hotel.
Friday 25 July:
A day to enjoy Chester
- we have arranged
a morning boat trip
so that you can
see the fantastic
city buildings from
the river and glide
out into the Cheshire
countrywide. The
quay is a very short
walk from the hotel
and the trip will
take place in the
early part of the
morning so that
you have time to
explore the city
and check out of
the hotel before
mid-day before departure.
