Join us for two-night ‘Digital Photography’ break
at the Botley Park Hotel where we will provide professional tuition
and hands-on experience. Our professional tutors, Brian and Paul,
have many years experience of teaching and working within the photographic
and design industries, they will explain the basics of good photography
and how to get the most out of your cameras. There will be several
photographic lectures and you will be taken on two photo-shoots
with one-to-one tuition in the field. You will have ample opportunity
talk to the lecturers; they will help you to explore your photography,
examine how to improve your photographic techniques, and answer
any of your questions.
Sunday 07 October
Arrive at the Macdonald
Botley Park Hotel in time for a buffet lunch before you check into
your room. At 1430 join us in our designated meeting room to meet
your tutors who will start the workshop with an overview of the
basics of digital photography and a chance to familiarise yourselves
with your cameras and determine different levels of expertise in
order for you to get the best possible experience from this two-day
seminar. This short course will introduce you to the secrets of
good photography and teach you to “see the image” and
reproduce it on your camera. The introduction will be followed
by a talk on composition and a photo-shoot in the hotel grounds
with one-to-one tuition, later you will be able to view the results
of today’s photo-shoot at a drinks reception which will be
held at 18.30. Dinner follows
Monday 08 October
After a leisurely
breakfast the morning’s workshop begins with a talk on exposure,
aperture and shutter speeds. After coffee you will depart by coach
for Winchester where your tutors will work with you on a one-to-one
basis to put into practice what you have learnt and achieve some
good pictures from around the Cathedral and the Close. Your guide
will be available to take non-participants on a tour of Winchester
College. Founded in 1382, Winchester College is believed to be
the oldest continuously running school in the country. Guided tours
concentrate on the medieval heart of the College and include Chamber
Court; the 14th century gothic Chapel, with one of the earliest
examples of a wooden vaulted roof; College Hall, the original Scholars'
dining room; School, the 17th century red brick schoolroom thought
to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren; and the original
medieval cloister
Resuming after tea you will again examine your
work and have the opportunity to have your technical questions
answered. By now you will be comfortable with your camera, and
will no doubt see an improvement in your skills. The evening will
end with a final talk before dinner, pulling together all that
you have learned and experienced.
