The Goodwood Revival
is a magical step
back in time, a
celebration of the
halcyon
days of motor racing
as it used to be
with all the accompanying
spectacle and glamour
of that era, with
competitors and
spectators alike
dressed in period
fashions. This is
an outstanding event,
the Revival is simply
in a league of its
own there is no
other motor sport
spectacle in the
world to compare.
It is an enormous
theatrical experience
and at its centre
the motor racing.
Grand Prix, sports
and GT cars thunder
around the circuit
driven by great
names which on past
occasions have included
Sir Stirling Moss,
Derek Bell and Johnny
Herbert. Bands play
music from the fifties,
shops selling fish
and chips wrapped
in 1950's newspaper,
parades of Ford
Cortinas, aerobatics
featuring Spitfires
and American Mustangs
and transport within
the circuit provided
by period vehicles
ensure that this
occasion is an authentic
period experience.
You will have grandstand
tickets for Sunday
in the popular and
much sought after
Startline Grandstand.
This two-night tour
is based at the
Macdonald Botley
Park Hotel, near
Southampton set
in landscaped grounds
with golf and leisure
facilities.
Saturday 20 September:
Check into your
rooms before welcome
drink and illustrated
talk given by Stephen
Vokins, author and
film editor who
will set the scene
and show film footage
of motoring events.
Sunday 21 September:
Early breakfast
before an executive
coach takes you
to the Goodwood
Revival to enjoy
the day with grandstand
seats and plenty
of opportunity to
soak up this unique
occasion - you may
wish to turn out
the attic, dig out
the furs, hats and
gloves and dress
to be part of the
occasion! Refreshments
can be found during
the day from the
Champagne Bars to
Fish and Chips.
Return to the hotel
for dinner.
