On Sunday you will
cruise on a canal
narrow boat crossing
the Pontcysyllte
Aqueduct direct
from your hotel,
and travel on the
Llangollen steam
train.
Saturday 23 August
Check into your
room from 1400 in
order to be ready
to depart by executive
coach for the Faenol
Festival around
1630. Upon arrival
you will be provided
with a specially
prepared 'Welsh
Speciality Picnic'
in a cool bag for
you to consume when
and where you wish
before the start
of the concert.
We have reserved
top price seats
for this spectacular
open-air event which
will be full of
colour, light and
sound. Bryn Terfel
will lead the evening
of favourite opera
and classical masterpieces
and as in past years
will invite guests
from the greatest
operatic talent
around the world
to join him. At
this early stage
we do not have the
final details of
the other performers
but confirm when
available. Back
to your hotel at
the end of this
magical evening.
Sunday 24 August
You can enjoy a
leisurely breakfast
before assembling
on the hotel's own
quay to board a
canal narrow boat.
Depart for a two-hour
canal cruise. The
Llangollen branch
of the Shropshire
Union Canal must
be one of the most
spectacular and
scenic canals in
Britain, as you
will discover when
you cross the famous
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
You will then return
to the hotel for
a light buffet lunch.
Depart by coach
after lunch for
the short drive
into Llangollen
where you will board
the steam train
and travel the very
scenic return route
from Llangollen
to Carrog. Upon
returning to Llangollen
you will visit the
home of the Ladies
of Llangollen. Back
to your hotel for
a relaxing evening
and dinner.
There is second
night at the Festival
for those that would
like to purchase
tickets and make
their own way there.
We will let you
have details of
the programme when
available and give
you the option to
purchase tickets
for the night. Transport
is not included
but should there
be enough people
taking this option
we can organise
a minibus otherwise
it is your own vehicles.
